FAQ: Alumier Peels
What are Alumier Peels?
Alumier Peels are medical-grade chemical peels that apply a solution to remove dead skin cells, stimulating the production of new, healthy skin cells. Using scientifically-based, high-performing ingredients, all Alumier products are free of parabens, sulfates, and dyes. The peels work by applying acid to lower the skin’s pH, loosening connections between dead skin cells and stimulating new cell growth.
What skin concerns do they treat?
Alumier Peels improve skin texture and firmness, decreasing fine lines and wrinkles while evening out skin tone. They effectively treat acne-prone skin, reduce pore appearance, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and brown spots. The peels also boost collagen and elastin production for firmer skin and promote gradual skin remodelling over time.
What are the different types of Alumier Peels?
The range includes the Glow Peel (7% salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol), Detox Clear for acne-prone skin, and Radiant peels for anti-aging. Options include the BHA Peel for oily, acne-prone skin, AHA Duo Peel for anti-aging, and Renew 30 Peel with 30% lactic acid for sensitive skin. Each peel can be customised based on your skin type and concerns, with up to three different peels possible in one treatment.
What happens during treatment?
The treatment is relatively speedy, taking as little as 25 minutes depending on complexity. The peel is applied slowly, one layer at a time for comfort, and you may experience slight warmth or tingling. The peel stays on for 10-20 minutes before being neutralised and removed, followed by a hydrating or brightening booster.
Does it hurt?
Despite the slightly scary name, Alumier Peels do not hurt – you might experience some tingling at most. While you may experience a tingling or warming sensation during treatment, discomfort is typically minimal and well-tolerated.
What should I expect after treatment?
Alumier treatments result in minimal to no downtime but create dramatic results, with possible slight redness, tightness, peeling, or temporary dryness. You may experience light to moderate flaking in localised areas for 3-7 days, with residual redness lasting 1-12 hours. After around 7 days, all dead skin will have shed, redness will have calmed, and your skin will be glowing.
Will I actually “peel”?
You may not necessarily expect to ‘peel’ – exfoliation often occurs on a cellular level and may not be apparent to the naked eye. Post-treatment peeling is often similar to peeling after a tan, varying depending on peel strength and individual skin profile. The peeling can be macroscopic (visible) or microscopic (cellular level), and effective results occur even without visible peeling.
What aftercare is required?
Avoid sun exposure, retinoid products, and AHA/BHA products for 7-14 days post-treatment. Don’t cleanse your skin the evening of treatment, avoid exercise for 2 days, and skip waxing, facials, or other treatments for 7-14 days. Use gentle cleansers and moisturisers, apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, and stay hydrated. You’ll receive a post-procedure kit with specialised products to use for 5-7 days.
How many treatments do I need?
Beautiful skin doesn’t happen overnight – a single peel provides immediate brightness, but significant results may take several treatments. A series of peels spaced a few weeks apart is typically recommended for optimal results. When performed regularly, skin gets used to the process and begins to rejuvenate itself like younger skin.
Who is suitable for Alumier Peels?
Chemical peels are suitable for most skin types and are gentle enough for even sensitive skin. Alumier’s clean science products are suitable for all skin types, colours, ages, and genders. However, treatment isn’t advisable during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or with active skin infections or cold sores in the treatment area.
